Convos from the qiibee Kitchen #4
This week we feature the Tech department in the fourth entry of our 5-part blog post series
Welcome to entry number 4 in our 5-part blog post series, “Convos from the qiibee Kitchen”. This week we feature Aaron de Miranda Colaço, our awesome Head of Blockchain. Today he will be giving us some exciting insight straight out of the tech department.
What’s your team?
When you’re in the early stages at a startup, roles tend to be less concretely defined and you work across departments and teams. So, while my main role is Engineering, I work very closely with Product, shoutout to Claudio, and of late with our head of sales, Francesco, whom you’ve already read about.
Who are your colleagues?
Speaking of the tech team, that would be Pascal, the car enthusiast, Elvis, the health freak, and Balaji the person with the cutest paintings in the background during our video calls.

What do you do on a normal day?
Haha. A “normal day” is interpreted very differently for the tech team at the pace we’re currently shipping code. I get out of bed, fire up the espresso machine, catch up with whatever might have happened during the night — due to the time difference — and start writing code. After 2–3 hours of that, I then try and get in a quick workout for an hour to an hour and a half before starting on product-related activities and starting with my calls for the day. I then resume working on features.
Why do you like our product?
If you’re running a business you know you have many fires to put out and multiple things to stay on top of all the time. Loyalty, while important, isn’t always at the top of the radar for a business — but it has a massive impact on customers when systems stop working or degrade.
I like that we provide a plug and play solution to brands that help them manage their loyalty systems without having to give it a second thought, thus making sure customers are always rewarded and have a good experience. It “just works”.
How would you explain our product to your mother?
Haha. Mom, we help users feel appreciated and get the maximum value for their purchases while also making businesses richer. As you can probably tell, I’m not very good at ELI5 (“Explain Like I’m 5yrs old”) stuff.
What are your team’s plans for the next 12 months?
Oooo.. Blitzscaling, really no other way to describe it. We’ve shipped an insane amount of code and features over the past quarter and are testing it out with some rollouts. 2021 for me is going to be about scaling and making sure we can support many more brands and businesses.
We hope you enjoyed this week’s tech entry in the series. Next week we will be concluding the blogpost series with a special edition entry that will feature our CEO, Gabriele Giancola. Don’t miss this opportunity to discover more about the vision behind the product as well as how the objectives are defined high level from the point of view of the CEO.
As always stay safe, stay loyal, and stay hungry!
More soon,
Your qiibee Team
